Looking for something fun and unique? Custom engraving makes a great personalized gift and a very unique promotional item.  In addition to printing on apparel and hard goods, we can also decorate glassware, crystal, stone, and more with our Ikonics Elite Professional sandblasting cabinet.

Sandblasting, also known as abrasive blasting, is the process of propelling a stream of abrasive material using compressed air. Sandblasting is a form of engraving, which is a process that removes material and cuts the design into whatever you are using as a substrate, whether it be wood, metal, or glass. Although it can be used for artwork, sandblasting is used in industrial settings as well. Sandblasting can be used in a work setting to clean brick, stone, concrete, and even walls.

If you are interested in having your personalized design engraved into metal, stone, or wood, please contact us for a quote. Provide as much detail as you can with your request and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible with a quote that is accurate and reasonable.

Sandblasting and Engraving: Frequently Asked Questions

The process starts with the art. Much like our other methods of decoration, a good vector art file is important. We use that art to create a film or stencil that goes over the object we are sandblasting. The stencil serves as a path for the sand to etch through.

At Giant Robo Printing, we use only the highest quality equipment for our services in order to provide the best quality to our customers. For laser etching, we use the Ikonics Elite Professional sandblasting cabinet. Features such as seated or standing operation, adjustable foot treadle, eye level machine controls, micro sized abrasive hose, fully padded armrest and large over-sized view window puts this model in a class of its own.

One of the many advantages of etched designs is that it is permanent. If you are decorating glassware with a sandblaster, the design will be made to last. It can’t get ruined or washed away no matter how many times it is run through a dishwasher. It makes it a perfect choice for barware or everyday glassware that will be used often.

Sandblasting, also known as engraving, removes material from a substrate with a stream of abrasive grit that is propelled at high pressure using compressed air. Etching, on the other hand, uses a process that “frosts” the substrate, so it does not strip away material to the extent that sandblasting does. Engraving is a deeper, more permanent way to imprint a design as the pressurized abrasive cuts into the material rather than a light, surface level removal that etching provides. Overall, engraving and etching are both great ways to bring your designs to life.

Sandblasting is far more flexible than most people might think!

There is a wide variety of fun stuff we can produce with our etching and engraving equipment. Glass can be frosted or deeply etched (or both), wood and stone can be carved, metal tumblers can be etched revealing a permanent design. The possibilities are significant and the durability is unmatched. Here is a list of some of the things we can etch/carve/sandblast for you.
